01

Use continuous speech

Read a paragraph naturally so the analyzer can sample changing syllables.

02

Watch the signal

The live bars confirm microphone input while analysis remains on your device.

03

Inspect the distribution

Use the histogram and variation alongside the median for a fuller picture.

A pitch analyzer should show the distribution

Inspect how the median, mean and histogram describe different aspects of your speaking-pitch distribution.

Median, mean and standard deviation use detected frames. Endpoints are the 2nd and 98th percentiles; trimming extremes does not guarantee removal of octave errors.

Method and interpretation

Use this result

Inspect how the median, mean and histogram describe different aspects of your speaking-pitch distribution.

A mean above the median can indicate occasional high notes. Check the histogram before summarizing the sample.

What is calculated?

Autocorrelation analyzes 2,048-sample frames about every 45 ms, within 60–400 Hz. Frames need RMS ≥ 0.01 and correlation ≥ 0.55. A result requires 20 detected frames and at least 20% detection coverage.

Median, mean and standard deviation use detected frames. Endpoints are the 2nd and 98th percentiles; trimming extremes does not guarantee removal of octave errors.

Microphones, noise and octave errors affect results. Accuracy has not been independently validated. Pitch bands are interface descriptions, not population norms or diagnoses.

These tools share one pitch detector; each page offers a different way to interpret its measurements.

Frequently asked questions

What does a voice pitch analyzer measure?+

It estimates fundamental frequency over time and summarizes the median, mean, effective range, variation and distribution.

Is pitch the same as volume?+

No. Pitch describes vibration rate in Hertz; volume describes sound level.

Why use a median pitch?+

The median resists brief tracking errors, breaths and unusually high or low syllables better than one instant reading.

Can it analyze singing?+

This page is tuned for speech. Use the vocal range test for low-to-high singing glides.
