01

Start comfortably low

Use a clear vowel at a sustainable low note, not vocal fry.

02

Glide upward slowly

Move through connected notes so the detector captures the range between extremes.

03

Stop before strain

The useful result is your comfortable range, not a painful maximum.

How the vocal range calculation works

Every valid pitch frame is converted from Hertz to the nearest equal-tempered musical note. The tool reports effective endpoints after removing the outer two percent of samples, reducing octave-slip errors.

The semitone span is calculated logarithmically between the low and high frequencies. This is a technical range estimate, not a final classical voice-type classification.

Frequently asked questions

How do I take the vocal range test?+

Begin on a comfortable low note, glide upward gradually, then explore your comfortable high notes without forcing.

What does the result show?+

It reports effective low and high notes, their frequencies and the span in semitones after trimming isolated tracking errors.

Is this my professional voice type?+

No. Bass, baritone, tenor, alto and soprano classification also depends on tessitura, tone and trained comfort.

Why are extreme samples trimmed?+

Pitch detectors occasionally jump by an octave. Trimming the outer two percent makes the reported range more robust.
